Chilly Tweeters

Chilly Tweeters

Chilly Tweeters:

This 6"x6" card has a soft snuggly look about it.  Our winter bird trio is stamped on 140lb Cold Press watercolour paper using Shadow Grey Archival Ink.  This cute stamp is a Whipper Snapper Design called Winter Get Together.

It is beautifully coloured using Prisma Color Premier Colored Pencils and Odorless Solvent.  Remember not all images need to be bold.   Pay close attention to the shading and highlighting of the yellow and blue tones.  Shading and highlighting is key to creating more realistic values.  The bead like corner embellishments are Dew Drops.  Dew Drops are glossy drops and are a fantastic way to add dimension to an otherwise flat surface.  Each drop is approximately 5mm in diameter and 2mm high.  Each bottle contains approximately 375 drops in 3 coordinating or contrasting colors which are flat on one side and rounded on the other making it easy to adhere with adhesive such as Tombow Liquid Glue or Mini Glue Dots

Simple Elegance

Simple Elegance:

This 5"x7" card uses simple tones of rustic browns, ivory and light blues to create an elegant traditional Christmas card.  The ornaments are cut from a combination of the Memory Box Lydia Ornament and Traditional Ornament dies.  The three dimensional bows are made using ivory cardstock and the Pretty Pretty Bows  die by Cheery Lynn.  After cutting the bow try curling the bow pieces using a bone folder, this helps shape the bow and gives it a more natural formed look. The Paisley paper background may seem a bit busy but by adding solid pieces of cardstock the patterned paper appears less striking and softer and your attention is brought back to the foremost focal point the cascading ornaments.

Frosty's Friend

Frosty's Friend

Frosty's Friend:

Warm up to this lovely A2 card.  The snowman image is from Stampendous Cling stamps called Country Snowman.  It is stamped using Jet Black Archival Ink on 140lb cold press watercolour paper.

The image is coloured with Prismacolor Premiere Colored Pencils and Odorless Solvent.  When blending your colours use either a Tortillion or a Craft Nib Tool. It is a little hard to tell on this picture but the mitten cuffs and bottom of snowman are actually puffed out using the Snow Marker.  The Snow Marker is sooo cool you literally mark wherever you want 3D snow with marker, it comes out like a liquid then use your heat gun to activate the snow...Voila it forms up like a cloud and instantly bonds to your project.  It can be used on not just paper but on fabric too.  If you are wondering about the snowflake it is a real wooden snowflake embellishment dazzled up with some adhesive gems Wooden Snowflakes a great way to add that finishing touch on your next card!

Tranquil Moments

Tranquil Moments

Tranquil Moments:

This stunning easel card is 5"x7" and is done so easily you will want to make more of them.  First start by using white cardstock.  Using Distress Inks (Mustard Seed, Seedless Preserves and Spiced Marmalade)  create a sunset starting at the top and bottom using seedless preserves then add mustard seed to the center and add streaks od spiced marmalade for dimension.  Cut a corresponding black piece of cardstock and center the Moose 1 Die and cut out image.  Using foam dots adhere the outside border of the moose image and glue the moose die cut inside the oval center.  The Sparkle on the sun is done with Wink of Stella Clear Brush Marker it adds the perfect amount of shimmer and can be strategically placed unlike using shimmer mists.  There is a brother to the moose die which stands more vertically and is gorgeous Moose 2.  The Moose dies are quite large, detailed and cut effortlessly they are definitely worth their value.

Winter Neighbourhood Card

Winter Neighbourhood Card

Winter Neighbourhood

This lovely card is known as a Bendy Card.  Bendy cards curve around the front of a base that allows you to form layers upon layers to create a magnificent three dimensional cards.  To create that snowy slope (Bendy portion) we used Spellbinders Curved Borders you can make it any desired width pending on the look you want to make.  We did our a bit thicker as we wanted to fit our sentiment on the front of the card.  The Houses in the background is from the Cheery Lynn Winter Neighborhood die.  There are just so many ideas that can be used with this die it is very versatile.  The deer on the left side of the card is from Memory Box Deer in the Trees.  This card is very simple yet sophisticated white on white is a clean and effective technique and is used in many card tutorials.  If you want trendy try a bendy!

Perky Penguin

This uniquely folded card is sure to take your heart.  The Penguin stamp is called Floating By Cling Stamp by Whipper Snapper.  It is coloured with Ranger Distress Markers on 140lb cold press water colour paper.  We stamp the image using Jet Black Archival Ink.  Always make sure to use Archival ink to stamp an image that you are going to colour.  Archival ink is a permanent ink that dries fast allowing you to use any medium to colour the stamped image without bleeding or distorting the image.  We used Sky Blue Archival Ink to ink the edges to soften the look and finish the edges of the printed pieces.  The Stamp set used for the sentiments is from one of the many Penny Black 2016 winter clear stamp collections Season's Gift Penny Black.  The cute snowflakes which are perfectly sized for cards is a Poppystamp die Valley Snowflakes (please contact store for more information on Valley Snowflakes) This card makes a 6"x6" card.  If you have a hard time finding envelopes for odd sized cards try making them.  We R Memories Keepers have an excellent tool that makes envelope making a breeze Envelope Punch Board

Dream

Dream

This is a fun card using Distress Inks.  You will nee water colour paper to do this technique.  We used blending foams 344691 or 360107 and tool 344689 or 360105 with Vintage Photo, Broken China and Chipped Sapphire Distress Ink distress ink for this project. We then misted with water using a mister 477919 and dried paper with a heat tool 278858.  After it is fully dried we stamped ferns down the side and the Stampendous Sentiment Stampendous stamps using Jet Black Archival Ink 121277. Voila!

Dance in the Rain

Dance in the Rain

Here is a classy and a bit spicy card.  This is a 5"x7" card.  The stamp "Rain Dance" is by Stampendous 196795 and is inked with Jet Black Archival Ink 121277 onto water colour paper.  We placed Vintage Photo Distress Ink 268119 on a craft mat 304843 and then misted the ink with water using our mister 477919.  Then we place the top of the card into the misted ink.  We dried the paper using  a heat tool 278858 (be sure to completely dry paper before next step).  Then with our blending tool 360105 and Vintage Photo Distress Ink we softly blended ink around edges slightly towards center of image.  We coloured her dress and shoes using Festive Berries Distress Marker 088322.  The sentiment is part of the stamp listed above.     The tiny black stars are from a punch that is no longer available.

Under the Weather

Under the Weather

This colourful 5"x7" card is sure to brighten anyone's day.  First layer a heavy weight piece of white cardstock a 1/4" smaller than adhered to base of card using foam dimensional tape 129020.  Then cut a piece of watercolour paper 6 1/2" x 3".  This is where the magic begins.  We used our Blending foam tool 360105 or 344689 and foams with Peacock Feathers 399378 and Salty Ocean 399383 Distress inks to colour the background then misted the paper with water using a fine mister 477919.  We then used a heat tool 278858 to dry the watercolour paper.  The Umbrella's are a Spellbinder's In'spire die we cut them out of heavy weight white cardstock then inked them using our blending tool and foam and Distress Inks in the colours of Mowed Lawn 399382, Mustard Seed 277414 and Picked Raspberry 399381.  After placing and gluing the umbrellas on card we used Glossy Accents 451944 to create realistic water drops.  Our Sentiment "Feeling under the Weather?" is by Whipper Snapper 526351and is stamped using Jet Black Archival Ink 121277
Tips & Tricks:  Allow glossy accent medium to air dry, please do not use a heat tool to try to speed up the drying process of the Glossy Accents they will bubble up and flatten.

Starry Season

Starry Season

This easy on the eyes card is a new fun layered look.  We distressed the edges with a Tim Holtz paper distressing tool then inked it with Coffee Archival Ink 1420640 and a Dauber to give it that old burnt edge look.  The bow is a die made by Cheery Lynn called Pretty Pretty Bows 299207. We have used this die quite often it comes with two sized bows which are very simple to put together.  We made our own tag simply by cutting the top corners of a rectangular piece of cardstock and embellished it with a square center and foliage from a punch by Martha Stewart called Branches.  We layered the Spellbinder Stars 354851 using patterned paper and Vellum, don't forget to ink the edges and adhere to card using Foam dimensional adhesives. Last but not least we used a Tag die from Spellbinders and stamped Season Greetings Sentiment using Versamark ,231200 and Detailed Gold Embossing Powder.359810
Tips & Tricks Be sure to use a detailed,  super fine or extra fine embossing powder when stamping any kind of sentiment or detailed image you will  notice a huge difference in the clarity of the stamped image.

Duck, Duck, Duck!

Duck, Duck, Duck!

If you like colouring you will enjoy doing this card.  I love this stamp by Stampendous Duckling Trio 519032.  We stamped this adorable stamp on watercolour paper with Jet Black Archival Ink 121277.  We inked the edges of the piece with Coffee Archival ink 120640 and a dauber 459434 to soften the look.  The Colouring was done with Prismacolor Premiere Colored Pencils Prisma, Odorless Solvent 384798 and Tortillions 456015.  This Coloring technique is affordable and very addictive.  We used the Cheerly Lynn Pretty Pretty Bows die by 299207 to embellish and a flower from the Spellbinder Jewel Flowers and Flourishes die set 253856 .  The small flower on top of the purple flower is a small punch and the butterflies are a small punch as well.  The Die that was used for the ducking image and the green layered background is no longer made by Spellbinders but any rectangular shaped die would work and there are lots to choose from.

Delightful Days

Delightful Days

Here is a fun simple technique that is clean, crisp and crafty!  The trick to doing this card is by placing the piece of water color paper in the center of the coloured background cardstock.  Stamp the image, we used the Delightful stamp by Penny Black 395403 using Coffee Archival Ink 120640.  You will find using the Fiskar Stamp Press 342535 very helpful to do any stamping especially larger stamps like this one.  The Stamp should cover the watercolour paper and the coloured cardstock background.  Colour the stamped image that is on the water colour paper using prismacolor premiere pencils Prisma . Try using pencils and odorless solvent 384798 to nicely blend colours, blend the colours with a Tortillion 456016.  Mount the coloured piece on to white cardstock cut a 1/4" larger and match and mount on top of the partially stamp background.  We used vellum on the bottom edge and stamped a Happy Birthday sentiment on it using Coffee Archival ink and Justrite Sentiment stamp set 251517.  We embellished flowers and top right corner with adhesive gems.  Make sure prior to adhering the pieces to ink the edges with a finger dauber 459434 and the Coffee Archival ink it softens the look and adds dimension.

Hoppy Thoughts

Hoppy Thoughts

Hoppy Thoughts has a fun layout that can be replicated in different themes.  Instead of frogs use butterflies or flowers, or for winter celebrations snowflakes or baubles.  Your options are limitless.  This card we used Spellbinder's Circle Dies 354806.  Be sure to ink the edges of these circles with a finger dauber 459434 and we used Coffee Archival ink 120640. The Frogs are a Poppy Stamp Die set called Pond Frogs.  You get four frogs in this set the fourth frog we placed on the inside of the card to embellish the sentiment.  All the frogs on the front of the card have dimensional foam adhesives 355603 under them to give them a more 3D look.  The leafy die cuts is a part of the Spellbinder's Foliage 472123 set.  This card is perfect as a masculine card or for anyone who loves frogs.  Hoppy trails!

Just Peachy

Just Peachy

I love this card it was so much fun to do.  This card is simple looking but full of fun techniques.  First we stamped a Stampendous stamp called Zinnia 057371 on Spectrum Noir Alcohol Marker Paper 245511 using Versamark 231200 and Detailed Black Embossing Powder and heat set using a heat gun 278858.  Then to Colour the Zinnia we used Chameleon Markers 175213.  We used precision paper scissors 143860 to cut out the Zinnia.  The Peach paper in the background is embossed using the Loren embossing folder CO723286.  The Leafy die cuts come from the Spellbinder's Foliage Die set 472123.  The Floral Paper in the background is actually stamped white cardstock using Penny Black Delightlful Stamp 395403 and Jet Black Archival Ink 121277.  Inside this card we used a Sentiment stamp by Whipper Snapper that says "It takes a long time to grow and old friend" 526359 which we thought suited this card perfectly.

Thinking Of You

Thinking of You

If you love sparkle then you are going to LOVE this product.  Bo Bunny Glitter paste is an amazing product that is easy to use and the glitter does not fall off your project.  You can use this product on paper, canvas, wood all sorts of mediums.  The best part is after it dries you can even scratch the glitter and it won't come off unlike other products that leave a mess of glitter everywhere!  This card is perfect example how this Glitter Paste can really make your card pop.  We blended Crushed Olive Distress Ink over a Penny Black Stencil and then offset the same stencil and used the Silver Bo Bunny Glitter paste 138897 to create this beautiful shadowed look.  Accented with Poppy Stamp Cherry Blossom Die and adhered them with foam dimensional adhesive to create a more 3D look.  The Thinking of You sentiment is from a Justrite stamp set 251517 and the ink used is Red Geranium Archival Ink.
Bo Bunny Glitter Paste comes in all sorts of colours.  They are an Opaque Paste with a mousse like weight and texture.  This product can be layered on top of one another without being able to see through each paste layer. Check them out on our website.
Glitter Pastes

Tips & Tricks
Do not try to speed up the drying time of the paste using a heat gun this paste must air dry for best effects.
We use a Pallet Knife to spread the paste over a stencil.  Remember when using a die cutting machine the negative portion after you have cut out the die can be used as a stencil.  I find using a heavy weight acetate or vellum very helpful for making my own stencils.

Haven't Seen You

Haven't Seen You...

This card is adorable, a perfect card to give to remind that special someone that you are missing them or are thinking of them.  We needed to use Spectrum Paper 245511 in order to colour the adorable stamp by Whipper Snapper called Deisel 520734.  We coloured him using Chameleon Markers 175213 which have been trending in the card making industry for the past couple years.  Chameleons are amazing alcohol based markers that have very little scent which I personally like since all markers self shades.  I used the Spellbinder Circle dies 354808 to cut out the magnify glass.  I used Versamark 231200 and Clear embossing powder on the cut out magnify glass portion to give it a shiny glass look.  If you don't have a heat gun you can get the same type of look using Glossy Accents 451944. To finish it off I raised it up with dimensional foam adhesives.  The Sentiment is another Whipper Snapper stamp 520708.  The Leafy die cut is from Spellbinder Foliage 472123 collection which I use quite often on my cards.  The embossing folder I used in the background to add texture is a polka dot 129501.

These Bird Crazy stamps by Tim Holtz are one of my favourite stamp sets to work with.   The Bird Crazy Cling stamp set 342971 has tons of colouring opportunity.  I did this card using Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink 121277 on 140lb Cold Press Watercolor paper (457493).  I then used the Bird Crazy die set to cut the birds out (504065).  To colour the I used Distress Crayons set 2 266794 and the Tim Holtz Water Detailer Brush 214423.  The Stamp I used is part of a Penny Black stamp set A Little Bird ... 112660.

I love making these comical cards.  Tim Holtz's Crazy Cats Cling Stamps (539529) and Crazy Cats Framelits dies (282077) make all projects that more fun and easy to complete.   I used 140lb Watercolor Paper (457493) and Ranger Distress Crayons set 2 266794 with Tim Holtz Water Brush Detailer 214423.  to colour this crazy cat.  The Background is Darice Brick Pattern Embossing Folder 076023.  I used 1/8" Round Foam Adhesives behind the eyes (049097) and 1/16" (266155) behind the body to give it that extra dimension.

Memories

"Memories"

This card is one of my favourites.  We used Spellbinders Shapeabilities Feathers Die 359399 to create an aperture and overlaying feathers.  The feathers are misted with Pssst! Sheer Shimmer Spritz, Sparkle 423560,  which is hard to see in picture but leaves a subtle but effective shimmer to the feathers. The scene in the background is part of the Crafters Companion Set 70 Luscious Landscapes stamp set 037384 and is stamped using Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink  121277 on a background created using Ranger Distress Inks Mustard Seed 277414 and Mermaid Lagoon 426180 and an ink blending tool 344689 or you can use a mini ink blending tool 360105.  The embellishments are Robin's Nest Water Dew Drops (311070) which are acrylic and flat on one side so they can easily be adhered to most surfaces with a micro glue dot 174924. The Sentiment is one of my favourites by Stampendous Moment Memory 429834 cling stamp.

Strawberry Social

This adorable 5" x 7" card uses Penny Black's Sweet Day (238468), cling stamp.  To stamp the image we used Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink 121277 on 140lb watercolor paper (457493).  To colour the image we used Prismacolor Premiere Colored Pencils Prisma with Mona Lisa Odorless Solvent 384798 and Tortillions (456016).  We layered the banner which is Spellbinders Ribbon Banners 472122 die over top of the ovals Lifestyle Nesting Ovals (277656) and Scalloped Ovals (277478).  The Sentiment is Loving Messages by Stampendous 429794 stamped with Ranger Red Geranium Archival Ink 088424.

Froggy Central

If you love frogs you will love this 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" card.  We embossed the background using Taylored Expressions, On The Spot Embossing Folder (TAY-TEEF35 - Discontinued). We then used Poppystamp Bountiful Sunflower (POP-1006) and Bountiful Sunflower Background (POP-1007) to create the water lily layering it with 1/6" foam adhesives (266155).  The frogs are Poppy Stamps, Pond Frogs die (287536) and the "For You"  is part of the Spellbinders Simply Said Phrase Two Set 502806.  The eyes of the frogs are not included in the die set so I used small circular punches to make them Darice Hole Punch set of three .0625", .125" & .3125" Circles (159978).

Mad Scientist

This hilarious creation is completed using Spellbinder Classic Circle Large and Small dies 354808 & 354806 along with Spellbinders Classic Oval Large 354802 Dies.  Believe it or not the crazy hair and mustache is made with the Poppystamp Bountiful Sunflower (POP-1006) and Bountiful Sunflower Background (POP-1007) dies.  Use these dies to create much more than sunflowers.  To make facial pieces stand out ink the edges of the flesh pieces with a dauber and Ranger Tattered Rose Distress Ink 277416.  It will make the world of difference.  The reflections made in the eyes we used the Uni-Ball Signo Broad White Gel Pen (431936), which is amazingly smooth, opaque and by far the best white pen out on the market.  The Glasses are part of the Sizzix Framelits Die Set 33PK - Crazy Things (507937).  Check out our "Froggy Central" card for another way of using the Memory Box Bountiful Sunflower & Background dies.

Sunflower Sentiments

"Sunflower Sentiments"

This beautiful card is 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".  We used Spellbinders A2 Distressed Edges (031464) & Simply Said Phrase Set Two 502806 dies and Poppystamp Bountiful Sunflower (POP-1006) & Bountiful Sunflower Background (POP-1007) dies to create this sincere card.  We inked the edges with a dauber and Ranger Coffee Archival Ink 120640 and a sponge dauber 459434 to soften the edges and create a more distinct look to the off centered background which really changes up the look.  We raised the head of the sunflower with 1/16" foam adhesives (266155) between each layer to make a shadow and three dimensional look to the card.  So much can be done with the Bountiful Sunflower die other than sunflowers please check out Mad Scientist and Frog Central cards for more ideas.

Turn that frown upside down with this 5"x 5" card using Whipper Snapper Monster Morning stamp 502740.  It is stamped with Ranger Jet Black Archival Ink 121277 on 140lb Cold Press Watercolor Paper (457493) to allow us color the image with Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils Prisma and blend colors with Mona Lisa Odorless Solvent 384798 and Tortillions (456016).   This coloring technique is very easy, affordable and effective.  We also used nesting circle dies Spellbinder Standard Circle Large and Small 354808 & 354806 or W R Memories Keepers Circles Nesting Dies (277640).   This card's layout is simple and clean.  Remember to use foam adhesives (049097 & 266155) to elevate the focal point.

Hello Friend

"Hello Friend"

This 5"x7" card uses the Penny Black Collage of Wishes stamp 478985.  We stamped the image using Ranger Glacier White Pigment ink 320547 and then coloured it using Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils Prisma on smooth black cardstock. To do this coloring technique your pencils must be sharp.  We like to use the Prismacolor Sharpener 205095 as it is made to with stand the softer led in the Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils.  The floral die cuts where made by using Memory Box Cherry Blossom die (MBX-98-316) that we made into poppies just by cutting  them out of red, tan and black cardstock.  The Foliage is made by using a Martha Stewart Branch craft punch (465605).  We layered the Poppies using foam dots in both 1/8" and 1/16" thicknesses (049097 & 266155) to create a more balanced and 3D look.
